Fertility issues

Fertility can affect as many as 1 in 6 couples and yet it is not an openly talked about or adequately funded subject.

Struggling with fertility issues can be a very lonely place and most of my clients feel stressed and overwhelmed by the whole process ; often struggling to manage all the emotions they encounter whilst trying to fall pregnant. At the same time they are repeatedly advised that their best chance of success  comes if they can remain calm and  positive.

Hypnotherapy can help you be in the best place, mentally and emotionally to conceive.

An Israeli study of 185 women showed that the success rate of IVF treatments doubled from 14% to 28% when the subjects underwent hypnosis during implantation.

It can also assist by helping you to ;-

Reduce stress and help you to remain calm during the process.

Stress  can be devastating to fertility as it can delay the release of eggs and prevent them from being implanted. A  stressed brain will do all it can to protect the body from any more stress  and thus reject anything it mistakenly sees as being an additional burden.

Women with depression, when treated showed a 60% viable pregnancy rate within six months, contrasting with 24% when depression went untreated.     Journal of American Medical Women’s Association,99,vol 54

Additionally problematic is the fact that stress in itself prevents pregnancy as 22% of couples stop trying to get pregnant as it is too stressful.

Regulate your hormone balances .

Adrenaline is released when we’re stressed and this inhibits the production of progesterone, which is essential for building and maintaining a lining of the uterus, thus impeding fertility.

Excessive stress can lead to anovulation, irregular menstrual cycles, and in more severe cases, to complete suppression of the menstrual cycle.

After prolonged stress  the body’s nervous system ,thinking that the body may need to prepare for fight or flight , sends less blood to the uterus and ovaries, thereby impairing their optimal functioning (Lewis 2004)

Improve your, and your partner’s sleep.

Sleep can have a dramatic impact on your chances; –

  • Women who regularly sleep less than 6 hours a night have 20% less of the follicular releasing hormone Lutenizing H which peaks just prior to ovulation and is necessary for conception.
  • Young (mid-twenties) and healthy men who, in a trial at the University of Chicago, were restricted to 5 hours sleep a night suffered a testosterone drop which aged them by 10 to 15 years.
  • Men who repeatedly do not get enough sleep ,or have disrupted sleep patterns ,have a 29% lower sperm count than those well rested.

Sadly, hypnotherapy can’t promise you a positive test result, but it can put you to be in the strongest position for success.
